Eeek! I'm really excited to share this news with you. A secret project I've been involved in has just been unveiled.
Duality: An Art Experiment, was conceived by talented photographer, Shannyn Higgins in Vancouver, Canada in 2014, and she's about to launch the Melbourne chapter - for which she has invited me to be a part.
The idea is that Shannyn anonymously pairs the words of 25 Melbourne writers (including the likes of Marieke Hardy, Lior, Anthony Carew, Bertie Blackman and me) with the artwork of 25 Melbourne artists. The result is an exploration of narrative, individuality and perception.
I wrote my piece from a dingy hotel room in Brooklyn, New York. It was a musing about experiences that I'd had in the lead-up to my trip and I'm really thrilled to discover which artist I've been paired with, how they've interpreted my words and what the end result will be on canvas!
As part of the project, Shannyn also visited the homes and studios of each of the 50 participants, gathering some gorgeous images (which you can see on the website). Here's a shy shot that she snapped of me at my studio in Fitzroy.
