Emo Chefs, New Beginnings & Worthy Congrats

It's been a hectic month. As well as settling myself into my new Fitzroy studio - which I'm LOVING (see below), I've been celebrating a few launches this month too.

August 25 saw the 35th annual The Age Good Food Guide Awards. This night always proves to be a bit of a restaurant world who's-who, and is one of the few times that I get see so lots of industry folks all in the one place (and so many drunk chefs!). There are always plenty of highs ("We won a Chef's Hat!") and lows ("We lost our Chef's Hat..''). Boozed-up emotional chefs aside, it's always a really fun night.

This year I was super-pleased to see my pal, Angie Giannakodakis from Epocha awarded the very prestigious Citibank Service Excellence award for her legendary and incomparable approach to the fine art of good customer service. Well done Angie.

In other launch-related news, I was chuffed to join the review team for the annual Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide for the first time this year. Launched in late August, the guide can be found alongside the latest issue of GT, so be sure to snap one up while they're still in the shops.
